AGENDA BILL CITY OF BREMERTON CITY COUNCIL 7A SUBJECT: Purchase of Playground Study Session Date: April 26, 2017 Equipment from Landscape Structures, Inc. COUNCIL MEETING Date: May 3, 2017 for Lions Park; Approve Budget Adjustment Department: Parks and Recreation Presenter: Phone: Jeff Elevado (360) 473-5428 SUMMARY: The Parks and Recreation Department has been approached by the Bremerton Central Lions Club with a proposal to improve the play value at the Lions Park main playground as their Legacy Project recognizing the 100th anniversary of Lions International. Staff developed options and presented alternatives to the Lions Club and Bremerton Parks and Recreation Commission for review. A custom net climber was selected and the Bremerton Central Lions Charitable Foundation has committed $48,000 to fund the purchase and installation of the proposed equipment. The existing zip -line located at the Lions Park playground failed in 2015. Inspection of the wooden poles supporting the zip -line cable indicated dry rot. Repair of the existing poles and cable are not feasible. Staff recommends replacement with a "track -style" zip -line. Significant savings can be realized by ordering both the Lions Legacy equipment and the zip -line equipment together. Equipment pricing has been competitively solicited and publicly awarded through the National IPA cooperative contract. Total Equipment Cost: $59,586.59 including WSST.
