A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City
of Bremerton, Washington, reaffirming its support of the
City's Employee Wellness Program.
WHEREAS,the City Council recognizes that wellness programs increase
participants' awareness of their health options by providing access to education and activities
and motivates and empowers employees to make positive health-enhancing, lifestyle choices;
and
WHEREAS,the City Council recognizes that improvement to all employees
health through active workplace health promotion, activities and education results in better
moral, reduces sick leave usage and enhances productivity and performance; and
WHEREAS,the City Council recognizes the importance of decreasing the use of
health care services under provider health benefits plans and improving employee health;and
WHEREAS,on December 19,2007,the City Council passed Resolution No. 3044
supporting the City of Bremerton Employee Wellness Program which includes a Wellness
Committee consisting of City employees; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to reaffirm its support of the City of
Bremerton Employee Wellness Program aimed at providing education to prevent illness and injuries,
promoting better employee health and morale through activities and reducing absenteeism;NOW
THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BREMERTON, WASHINGTON,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Resolution No. 3044 is hereby repealed and replaced in its entirety
with this resolution.
SECTION 2. City Council hereby expresses and reaffirms its support of the City
of Bremerton Employee Wellness Program and agrees to participate with City employees in the
program.
SECTION 3. Severability. If any one or more sections, subsections, or sentences
of this resolution are held to be unconstitutional or invalid, such decision shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portion of this Resolution and the same shall remain in full force and
effect.
SECTION 4. Effective Date. This resolution shall take effect and be in force
immediately upon its passage.
