SUMMARY: BMC Chapter 2.05, Section 2.05.020 (a) and Chapter 2.50, Section 2.50.032 (a)
requires Council confirmation for the appointment of a Department Director. Council confirmation is
requested to hire DeWayne Pitts as the City's Director of Financial Services. Mr. Pitt's is a licensed
CPA with 26+ years of financial experience. His areas of expertise include financial reporting,
financial systems, grant administration, policy, budgeting, business development, internal controls
and project management. His public sector experience includes holding the position of Chief
Financial Officer for the King County Sheriffs Office for 10 years (currently employed), he was the
Financial Services Manager for King County Public Health for 1 year, and the Auditor in Charge for
the Washington State Auditor's Office for 3 years. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business
Administration with emphasis in Accounting. His licenses and certifications include Certified Public
Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner, Professional Finance Officer designation. He is a member of
Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and a Member of the Washington Finance Officers
Association.
