SUMMARY: Staff have developed a design to construct guardrail on Tracyton Beach Road at the
most critical locations. The project was initially bid using the small works roster process and only a
single bid was received which exceeded the project budget. The project was then advertised and on
October 12th a single bid was received which again exceeded the original project budget. The bid
was from Peterson Brothers in the amount of$127,839.04, including sales tax. After the design and
construction management was updated, the total cost of the work is now estimated at$156,000.
Funding for the work will be from the Street Operating Budget in the TBD Department; there are
sufficient funds available for the work.

RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move to approve the Public Works Agreement with Peterson Brothers for the Tracyton Beach Road
Guardrail Construction Project; and authorize the Mayor to finalize and execute the agreement with
substantially the same terms and conditions as presented.
