GENERAL BUSINESS
5A - PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH PARAMETRIX. INC FOR BEACH SEWER
REPLACEMENT PREDESIGN (#AB05-201l: Michael Mecham, City Engineer, summarized that the
existing sewer main located on the beach below VVashington Street is prone to failure and requires
replacement. Several options for replacing the pipe have been identified. The preferred alternative
would be to construct a new sewer main on the beach in conjunction with an elevated access structure
that would connect the existing boardwalk with Evergreen Park. The second alternative would install
individual grinder pumps for all the residences and businesses along VVashington Street which pump to
a new sewer main in VVashington Street. Surface improvements are projects to be constructed on
VVashington Street ahead of the sewer main replacement project. This contract will evaluate sewer
conveyance alternatives to ensure that future replacement of the beach main will not require disruption
of the VVashington Street surface improvements in the event that the preferred alternative is not
implemented. Additionally, this contract will initiate discussions with regulatory agencies and submit
funding applications for expansion of Evergreen Park.
