SUMMARY: The City has been awarded a grant from the State Department of Commerce for the
retrofit of 531 city-owned street light to LED lights. The lights will pay for themselves in in the
next six years and will continue to save money for the subsequent 15 years, both in energy
and in maintenance. The LED fixtures are much more reliable, have a much longer lifespan,
and require much less maintenance than the old fixtures. The requested lights will be
purchased through Washington State Contract 00313. The total cost to purchase the lights is
$194,443.65 including Washington State sales tax. The authorized supplier is Consolidated
Electrical Distribution (CED) of Bremerton, WA.

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): The cost to purchase the LED lights from CED, of
Bremerton, WA is $194,443.65 including Washington State sales tax. The total project is
$268,745.00. The City will receive a grant from Department of Commerce for $74,512 and
will receive a PSE rebate of $54,233. This leaves a balance of $140,000 which will be paid
off in less than 6 years and can be "financed" with the electrical savings.
