PUBLIC RECOGNITION
Ronald D. Jefferson asked the City for assistance with his concerns about the current condition
of the Anderson Cove Neighborhood; including the removal of the basketball court, speeding
vehicles, drug activity, misplaced speed bumps, and the lack of notice regarding the high number
of registered sex offenders that reside in the area.
Diartaqnen Williams reiterated the concerns previously expressed regarding the Anderson Cove
Neighborhood, and was particularly concerned that there is a lack of community resources and
activities; and very little police patrol and enforcement. President Nyqren asked Mr. Jefferson
and Mr. VVilliams to provide an outline of the concerns raised tonight so that he can arrange a
community meeting with the Police, Parks, and Planning Departments to address the problems in
the neighborhood.
Sharon Maalis, Vice-Chair of the VVestpark Community Center Resident Advisory Council, read a
statement to support the proposed consolidation of the Bremerton Housing Authority (BHA) and
the Kitsap County Consolidated Housing Authority (KCCHA).
Audrey Powell property owner at 15th & Callow, was dismayed to find a change in the City's
zoning code which now prohibits any "drive-through" business at that location, which has thwarted
her plans for building a freestanding espresso stand. She is particularly frustrated that as the
property owners, they receive constant calls to clean up trash, including abandoned vehicles from
the property. President Nyqren asked Ms. Powell to provide her contact information and
concerns in writing, and send them to the Community Development Department so that the issues
can be addressed.
