A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Bremerton,
Washington, changing the name of North Summit Avenue to
Carol Arends Parkway.
WHEREAS,a request was received by City staffto honor former City Council
member Carol Arends at Forest Ridge Park, and
WHEREAS,the Bremerton Parks and Recreation Commission recommended
naming an element of the park to recognize Carol Arends for her outstanding civic service to the
community, and
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation staff coordinated with the City of Bremerton
Engineering staff,CENCOM and Kitsap County GIS on the street naming and all approved the
street name "Carol Arends Parkway,"to replace North Summit Avenue,and
WHEREAS,North Summit Avenue is entirely within the Forest Ridge Park
boundary and no residents or property owners will be directly affected by the proposed name
change,NOW THERFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CtTY OF BREMERTON, WASHINGTON,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Name ChanQe. The name of the city street North Summit Avenue
is hereby changed to Carol Arends Parkway.
SECTION2. Severabilitv. If any one or more sections, subsections, or sentences
of this Resolution are held to be unconstitutional or invalid, such decision shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portion of this Resolution and the same shall remain in full force and
effect.
SECTION3. Ef,�'ective Date. This Resolution shall take effect and be in force
immediately upon its passage.
