CITY OF BREMER TON ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES BUILDING Arsenal Way April 29, 1974 Action: Request for issuance of a building permit for the construction of a 2400 plus sq. ft. building to house local Departmnt of Motor Vehicle Operations, at 4<}'70 Arsenal Way. Representati ve: Edwin Bjork 815 Shore Dr. Bremerton, WA 98310 The proposed developement consists of a 2400 sq. ft. building, to house the operations of the State Departmnt of Motor Vehicles, and associated parking numbering between 23 and 25 stalls. The site area is appra.x:imately one-third acre. The structure is set forward on the lot within 20 feet of the Arsenal Way right-of-way. The site backs on State Highwey right-of-way. Adjacent land use is commercial, the zoning is manufacturing. The site was once occupied by structures of the West Park housing projects which have since been removed. Alteration to existing natural conditions will be of little en- vironmental significance. Social conditions in the Bremerton area will be improved with the addition of the new Highway Department building replacing the present small facility. Adverse impacts involved in the project which are substantial and unavoidable are expected to be non-existent. None of the environmental base data available indicate any sensi ti va environmental elements at the site. Resource comrrdtments involved include labor, material, space and the utility of the site for other short term uses. It is concluded that the action of issuing a building permit would allow a project to take place which in light of the above findings" would not result in any significantly adverse environmental impacts.
