SUMMARY: The Director of Public Works proposes to fill the vacant position of Managing Engineer
for Transportation with Shane Weber, PE. Mr. Weber is currently employed with Parsons
Transportation Group as the Project manager leading the design of an $8 million design fee
transportation project. Mr. Weber has extensive experience delivering multi-disciplinary federal aid
projects as a consultant, along with extensive traffic modeling and related design and construction
management skills; this experience is directly relevant to this position. The Director has negotiated
salary compensation with the applicant and proposes making this appointment at Rate 8 in Pay Band
16. BMC 2.50.032(a) requires City Council approval of any starting salary above Rate 1.
