Mayor Lent has recommended Eugene Brennan for appointment to the Arts Commission. Last week I called and invited Eugene to attend the city council meeting May 4th when the city council will vote for him to be a new Arts Commissioner. The Mayor intends for the spot to be filled as soon as possible so we have a full board and can get to work with accomplishing our goals. The selection of new arts commissioners is up to the Mayor. The city is continually taking applications to fill the Arts Commissioner positions as they become available. To change the process we need to read through the bylaws and see what the options are. I have requested a copy of the bylaws for us to review so we all have a clear understanding of the structure and procedure that is currently in place. I understand Marie's view of wanting more input on the selection process, we need to add this to the agenda and discuss this as a group. Eugene Brennan comes to us with strong recommendations. He will be a good addition to the board. I would like us all to be mindful that he does not get caught in the "cross fire" of this discussion. He has been appointed in the same fashion that the previous four commissioners have been. I will be working on the agenda for our May meeting. Please let me know if you have any items you would like to have added to the agenda. Kind Regards, Jacquelyn Speare ]acquelyn Speare, M.S.Ed. Grant Coordinator T: 360-827-2938 . Please let me know if you have any items you would like to have added to th.e agenda.
