SUMMARY: BMC 2.50.032(a) requires City Council approval of a salary higher than Rate 1. Council
approval is requested to start Jennifer Sims' salary at Band 17, Rate 3 (Pro-rated at 40%/16 hours
per week). Mrs. Sims' career spans 28 years in the accounting/auditing field including two years with
the State of Alaska as Internal Auditor for the Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education; five
years at Grant Thorton as the Director of Forensic, Investigation and Dispute Services; six years as
the Manager of RGL Forensic Accountants. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business
Administration with a major in accounting from Seattle University, is a Certified Public Accountant, a
Certified Fraud Examiner, and is certified in Financial Forensics.
