The existig sidewalks currently do not meet the minimum American with Disabilities Act (ADA)width requirements of fie feet. The sidewalks on both sides of the bridge are generally 3'-11" wide approximately with areas of constrittion that reduce the open width to 3'-6". Exeltech will hozt a feasibility study workshop that will primarily occur aver a four day period and involve several engineers, including structural and civil. The goal of the study is to evaluate up to four(4) alternatives to proide improved bike and pedestrian access across the bridge. This will be accomplished through widening the sidewalks on one side oboth sides of the bridge. Eath alternative will consider the structural impacts and improvements that may be required. However, no structurai modeling will be performed as part of this study. Therefore all estimates will be based off assumptions that will be made and documented as the study progresses. As the atternatives are developed and evatuated, it will be the goal to provide.an alternative with a construction estimate of five million dollars. At the end of the study, Exeitech will recommend one alternative that best meets the bike/ped access goal and is favorable for funding suppart. Belaw is a rough study scope and schedule outline.
