8B—AMENDMENT TO LOCAL AGENCY PARTICIPATING AGREEMENT WITH WSDOT FOR ADA
RAMPS ON SR303 (WARREN AVENUE AND WHEATON WAY1: Tom Knuckev, City Engineer,
explained that back in September, the City Council approved a Local Agency Participating Agreement
with WSDOT to construct curb ramps along the State Route 303 corridor(Wheaton Way and Warren
Avenue) at a cost of up to $100,000. This budget value was based on WSDOT cost estimates
developed during design. On December 9, WSDOT opened bids for the work, and have calculated the
City's cost of the ADA ramps at $112,687.33 based on the contractors bid. This cost is based on the
bid quantities; the final cost will vary based on the quantities actually incorporated into the work. While
the total cost is expected to be approximately$112,687.33, the Agreement includes a provision to
allow WSDOT to exceed this value by 25% (up to $140,859.16) without seeking approval from the City.
The requested action is approval of an Amendment to the Local Agency Participating Agreement with
WSDOT.
