Contract with KCDA for Pendergast Field #2 COUNCIL MEETING Date: August 19, 2015
Drainage Improvements Department: Parks and Recreation
Presenter: Jeff Elevado
Phone: 473-5428
SUMMARY: In 2013 and 2014 the City installed sub-surface drainage improvements at Pendergast Regional
Park Fields#1 and#3 respectively. The improvements greatly reduced ponding in the oueld, increased safety
for softball players and decreased the amount of staff time needed to prepare these fields for league and
tournament games following rainy weather. The attached contract with King County Directors Association
(KCDA)will facilitate the construction of a similar sub-surface drain system on Pendergast Field#2 completing
the drainage improvements for the complex. KCDA is a non-profit purchasing co-op used by municipalities and
school districts to obtain volume pricing for goods and services. Bremerton is a member of KCDA. Greenshield
Systems LLC will perform the work under the contract. The tasks include installation of perforated pipe in sand
filled trenches, tie in to a drain that carries water away from the ball field playing surface and restoration work
for the disturbed area. Work is anticipated to begin September 1 so that the project will be completed before
school leagues begin.
