SUMMARY: This policy establishes a procedure for evaluating, prioritizing and constructing speed
humps for residential City streets. Elements of the proposed policy:
1) Initiation by a neighborhood petition signed by 70% of the residents; or a request by the
Public Works Committee;
2) Technical review to ensure appropriateness
3) Neighborhood pays 50% of the material expense (except Hanford Avenue)
4) Speed hump installation requests will be batched for installation one time per year
ATTACHMENTS: 1) Proposed Policy
FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): $10,000 was budgeted for speed hump installation
in 2015. We expect a similar amount would be appropriate to budget in upcoming years.
