SUMMARY: In conjunction with the Washington Avenue Community Boulevard reconstruction
project, the City has an opportunity, through its Sewer utility, to purchase and demolish the beach
house at 646 Washington Avenue. This action will be credited as environmental mitigation for future
projects involving beach main abandonment. This purchase will enable the beach in this location to
be partially restored by removing the over-water beach house and pilings.

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): The purchase price is $132,000, plus escrow and
closing costs as indicated in the agreement. The purchase price is supported by a City-initiated
appraisal. Funds to cover this expense are included in the 2015 Washington Avenue Connector
budget.
