SUMMARY: The Director of Public Works proposes to fill the vacant Managing Engineer for Public
Works with Jerry Hauth. Mr. Hauth earned a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of
Washington, is a licensed Professional Engineer, a licensed Public Land Surveyor, and has 45 years
of experience directly relevant to this position. The Director has negotiated salary compensation with
the applicant and proposes making this appointment at Rate 4 in Pay Band 16. BMC 2.50.032(a)
requires City Council approval of any starting salary above Rate 1.

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): None. The 2015 Engineering personnel budget has
adequate funds for this position.
