HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/01/2015 5I AGENDA BILL CITY OF BREMERTON CITY COUNCIL SUBJECT: Community Forestry Grant Study Session Date: March 25, 2015 Agreement with Department of Natural COUNCIL MEETING Date: April 1, 2015 Resources for Evergreen Rotary Park Department: Parks and Recreation Presenter: Wyn Birkenthal Phone: (360) 473-5752 SUMMARY: The attached Community Forestry Assistance Grant Agreement with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR)will fund the cost of shade and habitat trees along the southeast portion of Evergreen Rotary Park. The grant is part of a larger effort to enhance the Park's south easterly shoreline by removing the sewer lift station, incorporating the Highland right of way into the park meadow and removing the existing barbed wire topped chain link fence. The trees purchased with the $5,000 DNR grant will be installed upon completion of the Sewer Utility project. The plantings will provide habitat and aesthetic value to Evergreen Rotary Park in addition to bank stabilization.
