HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/18/2015 6E AGENDA BILL CITY OF BREMERTON CITY COUNCIL SUBJECT: Property Purchase of 6.85 acres Study Session Date: March 11, 2015 for Water Utility COUNCIL MEETING Date: March 18, 2015 Department: PW&U Presenter: Milenka Hawkins-Bates Phone: (360) 473-5333 SUMMARY: Two parcels make up this property: Kitsap County Assessor's tax parcel#352401- 3-007-1005 consisting of 1 acre Undeveloped Land class, zoned Rural Residential (1du/5ac); and tax parcel#352401-3-008-1004 consisting of 5.85 acres Undeveloped Land class, zoned Rural Protection (1 du/10ac). The aggregate property is bounded by Bremerton Water Utility land on the north and west which is used for watershed and forest management; a private residence is to the east. This property is gently sloping; soils are a sandy gravelly loam; well stocked with merchantable second growth timber. This purchase will secure Water Utility ownership at the main access to Union River surface water supply drainage water intake facilities and will add as a buffer to the City's water supply area. This purchase enhances protection of the City's unfiltered system, demonstrating improvement to the Watershed Control Program per Department of Health, complementing the City's forest and timberland management program.
