SUMMARY: It is requested that the City of Bremerton enter into an interlocal agreement with Puget
Sound Clean Air Agency for the purpose of accepting a grant for reducing emissions in diesel
powered equipment by offering Idle reduction equipment to be installed in some of our Fire
Department vehicles. Washington State Department of Ecology is administering the Idle Reduction
Program for emergency response vehicles under Grant No. G130047. Under this program
unnecessary engine idling will be reduced time by providing idle-reduction systems for emergency
response vehicles. It is our intent to have some of our aid cars (ambulances) be retrofitted with
auxiliary battery systems to reduce unnecessary idling thus reducing emissions fuel usage.
