SUMMARY: The existing motor controllers at water Pump Station #17 are over 20 years old, have
had multiple failures, are difficult to work on, and the small control relays are no longer available.
This project proposes to install variable frequency drives (VFDs) in place of the three motor
controllers. VFDs are a proven technology used in many locations throughout the City and will allow
motor speed and flow to be controlled in an energy-efficient manner.

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): This purchase of$26,329.31 for the VFDs is
budgeted in the 2014 Water Utility Capital Budget.
