SUMMARY: The South Kitsap Industrial Area (SKIA) was annexed to the City of Bremerton through
a series of annexations that began in 2008, and since that time the city has worked to develop plans
for the economic growth of this regionally designated "manufacturing/industrial center." Key to the
implementation is a marketing plan that includes a name that is more reflective of the industrial
center's location in the City Bremerton, and its ability to support job growth in the Puget Sound
region. The Port of Bremerton and the City are working jointly in this endeavor and both agencies
desire to move forward with this renaming process. Renaming of SKIA is conditioned upon approval
by the Port of Bremerton.
