A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of
Bremerton, Washington, renaming the South Kitsap Industrial
Center(SKIA) to Puget Sound Industrial Center - Bremerton.
WHEREAS, the South Kitsap Industrial Area (SKIA) was designated by Puget
Sound Regional Council as a Manufacturing/ Industrial Center in 2003 while it was under the
jurisdiction of Kitsap County; and
WHEREAS, Most of the territory within SKIA was annexed to the City of
Bremerton beginning in 2008; and
WHEREAS, following annexation, the Port of Bremerton and the City have had a
cooperative relationship to prepare plans for the future economic growth of SKIA; and
WHEREAS, the Port of Bremerton and the City both desire to implement the job
growth goals established in the subarea planning effort and key to that implementation is a
marketing plan that includes a name that is more reflective of the industrial center's location in
Bremerton, NOW THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BREMERTON, WASHINGTON,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Name Chante. The South Kitsap Industrial Center(SKIA) is
hereby renamed the Puget Sound Industrial Center- Bremerton. The renaming of SKIA as set
forth herein has been approved by the Port of Bremerton.
SECTION 2. Severability. If any one or more sections, subsections, or
sentences of this Resolution are held to be unconstitutional or invalid, such decision shall not
affect the validity of the remaining portion of this Resolution and the same shall remain in full
force and effect.
SECTION 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect and be in force
immediately upon its passage.
