SUMMARY: The existing WWTP Industrial Mechanic position was vacated due to a promotion for
the incumbent. In reviewing our current workload and staffing, the WWTP would be better served
hiring two (2) FTE entry level (Grade 4A) Laborers - Utilities positions, so that they can be trained as
apprentices by our existing journey level mechanics on the "how & why" we do our mechanical
operations & repairs. Hiring of these positions will better prepare the WWTP for the impending
retirements that will occur within this division in the next few years.

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): Budgeted - $78,222.75; (2) FTE Laborers - Utilities
$64,685.26; 2014 Savings - $13,537.49.

RECOMMENDED MOTION: Move to authorize a decrease of one (1) FTE WWTP Industrial
Maintenance Mechanic position, decrease two (.42) FTE Part-time Seasonal Laborer II
positions (extra help), and replace with two (2) FTE Laborers - Utilities, resulting in a net
increase of (1) FTE in the WWTP Division.
