SUMMARY: The work to be completed under this contract includes recoating the interior of two steel
water reservoirs. The interior of Reservoir 20 will be coated in entirety. Only the interior roof /lid of
Reservoir 19 will be coated. The work includes cleaning out the tanks, removal of existing coal tar
based coating, surface preparation, sandblasting, and coating.
There were 4 bids. Western Industrial was the lowest responsible, responsive bidder in the amount
of $474,184.25 (which includes sales tax).

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): The project is included in the 2014 budget and is
funded by rates.

RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move to award contract for Reservoir No. 19 and 20 — Interior Coating Replacement from Western
Industrial, Inc. in the amount of $474,184.25 (which includes sales tax) and authorize the Mayor to
finalize and execute the agreement with substantially the same terms and conditions as presented
upon receiving all necessary environmental permits.
