HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/04/2014 5G AGENDA BILL CITY OF BREMERTON CITY COUNCIL SUBJECT: Professional Services Study Session Date: May 28, 2014 Agreement with L2 Systems, LLC for the COUNCIL MEETING Date: June 4, 2014 Water SCADA System Upgrade Department: Public works and Utilities Presenter: Kathleen Cahall, Water Resources Manager Phone: 473 -2315 SUMMARY: The City of Bremerton Water Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition ( SCADA) system provides a critical function for the City's drinking water operations through real -time monitoring of water system conditions, assuring the system operates per facility set points, alerting water operators to alarm conditions, and providing a database for analysis and reporting. The SCADA is the nervous system for the water utility. The goal of this project is to modernize and enhance the water SCADA system by upgrading older equipment and software at over thirty sites and standardizing on Allen Bradley control technology and to convert communications to Ethernet through fiber optic and radio. A more uniform SCADA system will streamline operations and maintenance and allow better management of lifecycle status, while improving security and data capabilities. ATTACHMENTS: Professional Services Agreement with L2 Systems, LLC FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): This project is budgeted in the 2014 — 2016 Capital Improvement Project budget. The budget breakdown for 2014 is $100,000; 2015 is, $350,000; 2016 $150, 000.
