SUMMARY: Kevin Matthew was appointed to the position of Information Services Manager effective
1/1/13. During his first year as IT Manager he has renegotiated telecommunication and service
contracts resulting in an annual savings to the City in excess of $15,000. He was instrumental in
mitigating IT findings in the 2012 Police Department CJIS audit resulting in the design and installation
of new encrypted network equipment on the Police Department data links, developed a plan to
replace aging equipment using a solution to use the Cloud for offsite storage increasing the reliability
of our backend disaster recovery and business continuity plans and has written a policy that allows
the City to roll out a Social Media presence in June of this year. These successes support an annual
rating that "exceeds expectations" and makes him eligible for an additional rate advancement. BMC
2.50.032(b) requires the Mayor and City Council approval of in range rate adjustments in excess of
one rate.
ATTACHMENTS:
FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): There is no budget impact. This rate advancement
was anticipated in the 2014 budget for Information Services.
