SUMMARY: The action before City Council is to conduct a public hearing and adopt the 2014 Parks,
Recreation and Open Space Plan, which updates the plan adopted in 2007. The process for
developing the plan update included 9 public meetings involving the Parks and Recreation
Commission, a citizen survey and posting of a draft plan on the City web -site for review and
comment. On February 25 the Parks and Recreation Commission recommended the park plan
update for City Council for adoption. The State of Washington requires that local jurisdictions
maintain a Park, Recreation and Open Space Plan to maintain eligibility for park and recreation grant
funds.
