Home My WebLink About5241 ORDINANCE NO. 5241 AN ORDINANCE of the City Council of the City of Bremerton, Washington, revoking the Wheaton - Riddell District Center Subarea Plan established on October 3, 2007, and repealing Ordinance No 5025 establishing the Wheaton - Riddell District Center Subarea Plan WHEREAS, on October 3, 2007, the City Council passed Ordinance No 5025, which adopted the Wheaton - Riddell District Center Subarea Plan, and WHEREAS, since the time of plan adoption, there have been limited economic activities within this District Center, and the activities that have occurred have been for building reuse, without any significant new building construction, and WHEREAS, on February 18, 2014, the Planning Commission held a public workshop to discuss the Wheaton - Riddell District Center Subarea Plan (Subarea Plan), and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission found that the regulations contained in the Subarea Plan are an impediment to redevelopment and therefore the growth goals for the District Center and the Comprehensive Plan cannot be met, and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission recommends that the City Council immediately revoke the Wheaton - Riddell District Center Subarea Plan to facilitate the growth goals of the Comprehensive Plan, and WHEREAS, in 2014 the Planning Commission will be analyzing the District Center and will be developing a recommendation for revised zoning standards to further implement the City's Comprehensive Plan, and WHEREAS, upon revocation of the Wheaton - Riddell District Center Subarea Plan, the zoning for the area will revert to the zoning which was in place prior to the Subarea Plan adoption in 2007, and WHEREAS, the prior zoning will remain in effect until such time as new zoning standards are adopted for the Wheaton - Riddell District Center, NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BREMERTON, WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS SECTION 1. The Wheaton - Riddell District Center Subarea Plan adopted by Ordinance No 5025 on October 3, 2007, is hereby revoked SECTION Z Ordinance No 5025 establishing the Wheaton - Riddell District Center Subarea Plan is hereby repealed in its entirety 1 Wheaton Riddell Subarea Plan Revocation SECTION 3. Upon the effective date of this ordinance, the zoning for the Wheaton - Riddell District Center will revert to the zoning which was in place prior to the Subarea Plan adoption in 2007 as set forth in Exhibit A attached hereto SECTION 4. Severabihty If anyone or more sections, subsections, or sentences of this Ordinance are held to be unconstitutional or invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion of this Ordinance and the same shall remain in full force and effect SECTION S.
