SUMMARY: The two existing Alfa Laval spiral heat exchangers provide heat to the biosolids in both
anaerobic digesters at the Westside WWTP The current spiral heat exchangers have been in
operation since 1985, and are at the end of their useful lifecycle Due to space and piping
constraints, we have to replace the existing spiral heat exchangers with the same model and
manufacturer (Alfa Laval) This is a sole source item The cost for two (2) Alfa Laval Spiral Heat
Exchangers is $83,000, which includes freight and taxes

This Upgrade is budgeted through the Wastewater Capital Program and has a budget of
$100,000 The total cost for the purchase of two (2) new Alfa Laval Heat Exchangers is $83,000
