SUBJECT: Acceptance of 2014 Grant from Study Session Date October 23, 2013

SUMMARY: The Bremerton Municipal Court applied to the Office of Public Defense for a grant and
was awarded a grant in the amount of $15,000 00
This money is intended to be used for improvements including continuing to adjust pay compensation
for contracted attorneys, adding attorneys to reduce public defense caseloads, and complying with
the new Supreme Court Public Defense Standards
ATTACHMENTS: Letter of Acknowledgment and Face Sheet
FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount) The OPD funding is a revenue source for $15,000
to be used directly for Public Defense in the City of Bremerton Municipal Court These monies will be
fully expended as part of the 2014 Public Defense Contract There are no matching funds needed
