SUMMARY: This small works roster project was provided to 69 qualified contractors listed on the
MRSC small works site. Two bids were received. The low bidder was Stripe Rite, Inc. with a bid of
73,405.00. The contract's initial focus is to refresh the crosswalks in the City's school zones;
thereafter, provide additional street markings as requested. This is a pilot project for the Public
Works Department and should save us considerable money (our cost to purchase just the
thermoplastic material alone is about double this contract amount). In addition, we will be able to
conserve our valuable street crew time for other important work. We would like to thank one of our
local business owners, Mr. Robert Parker, for asking us to look into this possibility.

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): Funding for this contract will come from Fund 102
(Streets), line item 542.3042.53110, Office and Operating Supplies. The bid amount is 73,405.00.
The overall impact of this contract will be to save the City at least $35,000 in our budgeted work plan.

RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move to approve a contract with Stripe Rite Incorporated for hot applied street traffic markings in the
amount of $73,405.00, and authorize the Mayor to finalize and execute the agreement with
substantially the same terms and conditions as presented.
