MOUNTING
Boom
Slide the 2 0" IPS SCH 80 aluminum pipe over the
1 9" OD antenna boom pipe by about 18"
Note that there will be about 0 039" clearance -
make a saw cut of about 24" long through the 2 0"
IPS pipe and then dnll two sets of 0 56" through
holes offset by 90° from the cut and space them
approximately 14" apart
Secure with 1/2"-13 galvanized or stainless
hardware
Brace
Use 1 1/2 IPS SCH80 to slide over the 1 5" OD
brace tubing about 18" (this will be a snug fit so no
need to cut the pipe at all)
Drill for and secure with 3/8-16 hardware

COAXIAL CABLE INSTALLATION
This antenna is specifically designed for RG-213/U cable which has an OD
of around 0 4 inches with braided shielding '/z' Heliax is too large in
diameter and has the wrong kind of shielding to be connected into the
antenna directly _
Make up a pigtail using a short length of RG-213/U cable connected inside
the antenna with the lug screws and then run out the bottom of the antenna
and terminated with an N female Terminate the'/z" Heliax home run cable
near the antenna with an N male and connected to the pigtad

1 Antenna installation contractor is not required to do o tests on the
lower frequency ham antennas, information is included as amateur
radio operators can provide this
2 Tests should be done as "Return Loss" rather than as VSWR if
possible
3 Return loss is properly a positive number (Example "I measured a
return loss of 17d6 ") How+ever, people are used to thinking of loss as
a negative number when using decibels (Example "I measured a
return loss of negative 17d6 ") Test equipment manufacturers are
split on this issue, and some vendors show return loss on the screen
with negatNe numbers because that's what people expect to see
-- --- The correct terminology is in
the return loss values as positive numbers If the vendor telis you that
it should be shown as negatNe numbers, tell him/her that's fine, don't
worry about it
4 To pass the test, the return loss value must be below the limit line
For example, on the antennas that show the limit line at 16d6, a
passing test might measure 17 5dB (or -17 5dB, if you prefer) A
return loss measurement of 13dB (or -13dB) would indicate the
antenna system did not pass
5 If the antenna installation contractor can't do measurements of
return loss, here are the corresponding VSWR values 14dB is 1 5 1,
and 16dB is 1 376 1
