SUMMARY: The action before the Council is to conduct a public hearing and consider amendments
to the Bremerton Municipal Code and Comprehensive Plan to incorporate the South Kitsap Industrial
Area (SKIA) Subarea Plan The purpose of the Subarea Plan is to establish a development plan for
the project area and create regulations to guide development, consistent with the Bremerton
Comprehensive Plan
SKIA, located in southwest Bremerton, comprises approximately 3,700 acres planned for industrial
development and use A draft Subarea Plan has been prepared to guide the expected development
in SKIA for the next twenty years, emphasizing economic development, fob creation, protection of
natural systems, reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, more sustainable development patterns
and buildings, and development of innovative and sustainable infrastructure
