SUMMARY: Pursuant to RCW 4156, negotiations have concluded between representatives of the
City and the Teamsters resulting in the attached tentative Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
These negotiations have been discussed with Council in Exempt Sessions This CBA replaces the
current one that expired on December 31, 2011 The new CBA is for a two (2) year term, beginning
January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2013 At the time this agenda bill was created the Teamsters
were scheduled to vote on the CBA on July 30, 2012 If ratified by the Teamsters, Council approval is
required to implement this agreement

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount) there are sufficient funds in the 2012 budget to
cover the cost of the proposed contract

RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Motion to approve the Collective Bargaining Agreement by and between the City and Teamsters
Local #589, January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2013, and authorize the Mayor to finalize and
execute the agreement with substantially the same terms and conditions as presented
