Agreement between the City of Bremerton COUNCIL MEETING Date 4 -4 -12
and South Kitsap Fire & Rescue regarding Department Fire
exchange of first response fire protection Presenter Al Duke, Fire Chief

SUMMARY: Bremerton Fire Department and South Kitsap Fire & Rescue have had an Interlocal
Agreement since 2007 The agreement exchanged services that included all fire and EMS services
The geographical areas in the agreement for South Kitsap Fire & Rescue are Rocky Point and Navy
Yard City for the City of Bremerton the area is Gold Mountain Due to financial constraints, this
agreement is being amended Bremerton Fire Department will only respond to priority 1 & 2 calls in
the Rocky Point area and South Kitsap Fire & Rescue will respond to all fire and EMS calls in the
Gold Mountain area With the new agreement there will not be any exchange of revenues

RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move to approve the amendment to the Interlocal Agreement between the City of Bremerton and
South Kitsap Fire & Rescue regarding exchange of first response fire and EMS services, and
authorize the Mayor to finalize and execute the agreement with substantially the same terms and
conditions as presented
