SUMMARY. On November 30, 2011 a City watermain broke which resulted in flooding of the ground
level and garage of a home on Anderson Hill Road in Port Orchard, Washington Extensive damage
resulted and the residents have been displaced from the home Remediation and repair costs will
exceed $50,000 BMC 2 92 060 requires approval by City Council for the settlement of claims over
$50,000 Staff is requesting City Council authorize the City Attorney and Risk Management
Specialist to pay claim costs up to $100,000 and enter into contracts as necessary to resolve this
claim

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount) Funds are budgeted in the Risk Management Fund
for 2012 for claim expenses and settlement
