SUMMARY: The current City addressing ordinance dates back to 1928 and does little more than
establish a City addressing grid and provide guidelines for how address numbers should be
assigned The current ordinance has no provisions for naming streets, modifying incorrect
addresses, or identifying an enforcement procedure to ensure addresses can be changed when
necessary The proposed BMC Chapter 11 18 will establish guidelines for the naming of streets and
assignment and modification of address numbers
