SUMMARY: As part of the 2012 budget, it is proposed to raise the utility tax portion of PILOT on
Wastewater and Stormwater from 9 5% to 14% and to decrease the tax on Water from 9 5% to 8 5%
These changes would decrease total PILOT to the Water fund from 15 5% to 14 5% but increase the
total PILOT to the Wastewater and Stormwater Funds from 15 5% to 20%
Staff is presenting this ordinance to you tonight for informational purposes only and for consideration
as part of the budget public hearing this evening There is no action required on this ordinance until
adoption of the 2012 budget ordinance, scheduled for December 7, 2011
ATTACHMENTS: Ordinance No -0 of the City Council of the City of Bremerton, Washington,
amending Chapter 3 50 of the Bremerton Municipal Code relating to the utility taxes for Water,
Wastewater, and Stormwater utilities
FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount) If approved, th 4 57 revenue realized from the
increase to the Stormwater Utility would be a tax stream to the Fund (approximately
$324,044 for the entire 14 %) The $613,666 increase to the Wastewater Fund would be a tax stream
to the General Fund and the $94,269 decrease to the Water Fund would be a decrease to the tax
stream for the General Fund
