AN ORDINANCE of the City Council of the City of
Bremerton, Washington, suspending the One Percent for
the Arts Program until January 1, 2014
WHEREAS, On July 20, 2005, the City Council passed Ordinance No 4940
amending Chapter 2 32 BMC entitled "Arts Commission" and creating Chapter 3 12 entitled
"One Percent for the Arts Fund" establishing the One Percent for the Arts Program, and
WHEREAS, due to the current economy and City budget constraints, the City
Council believes that it is in the City's best interest to suspend to a later date application of the
One Percent for the Arts Program as it relates to expenditures from the One Percent for the Arts
Fund for the selection, development and placement of art, NOW THEREFORE,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BREMERTON,
WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS
SECTION 1. All expenditures from the One Percent for the Arts Fund for the
selection, development and placement of art for th'e One Percent for the Arts Program as
established in Ordinance No 4940 are hereby suspended until January 1, 2014, except that
during the suspension period established herein, expenditures may be made from the One Percent
for the Arts Fund, as authorized by the Director of Community Development and the City
Council Planning Committee, for the installation, maintenance and repair of art
1) Approved by the City Council as of the effective date of this ordinance and
funded by the One Percent for the Arts Fund, or
2) Identified in the Art Master Plan adopted by Resolution No 3147 as currently
passed or hereinafter amended

SECTION 2. The City Council may extend or shorten the suspension date of the
One Percent for the Arts Program established in Section 1 by motion or resolution
SECTION 3. All terms of the currently seated commissioners to the Arts
Commission shall be extended by two years
SECTION 4. Chapter 2 32 BMC and Chapter 3 12 BMC are amended to the
extent necessary to implement the provisions of this ordinance
SECTION S. Severability If any one or more sections, sub - sections, or
sentences of this Ordinance are held to be unconstitutional or invalid, such decision shall not
affect the validity of the remaining portion of this Ordinance and the same shall remain in full
force and effect

SECTION 6. Effective Date This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days from
