A RESOLUTION of the Crty Council of the Crty of
Bremerton, Waslungton, supportmg the Development of a 911
Memorial at Evergreen Rotary Park, establislung oversight of the
pro�ect and appointmg representatives to the Kitsap 9-11 Memonal
Committee and to the Memorial design subcommrttee
WHEREAS, the events of September l l 2001 had an mdelible impact upon the
history of the Unrted States of America and has effected the lives of every Bremerton resident,
and
WHEREAS the loss of 2,9761ives on that day and the numerous acts of heroism
committed unselfishly and wrthout regard to personal safety by ordmary crtizens, military
personnel, firefighters and police officers shall be remembered and conveyed to future
generations, and
WHEREAS the Krtsap 9-11 Memor�al Committee has approached the Crty of
Bremerton requestmg a visible public srte for location of a Memonal to be constructed using
steel beams from the World Trade Center as a centerpiece, and the Kitsap 9-11 Memorial
Committee has pledged to raise private funds to complete and mamtam the Memorial pro�ect,
and
WHEREAS, on October 26 2010 the Bremerton Park Board recommended to
Crty Council that the Memorial be srted m a portion of Evergreen Rotary park m a location
where said Memorial would not mterfere wrth existmg recreational achvrty, that Crty
representatives participate m developmg the design for the Memorial, and said design shall be
shared wrth the Park Board and approved by Crty Council at both the prehminary and final
stages for comment and approval, NOW THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BREMERTON, WASHINGTON,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS
SECTION 1 The City Council hereby encourages and supports the development
of a 9-11 Memonal at Evergreen Rotary Park at a specific location within the park to be
determined through further study
SECTION 2 The Crty Council approves the recommendations presented by the
Park Board
SECTION3 The Crty Council will appomt a council member to the Krtsap 9-11
Memorial Committee and appomt 2 qualified citizens and/or city staff inembers to serve on the
Krtsap 9-11 Memorial Committee's design subcommittee

SECTION4. The Kitsap 9-11 Memonal Committee will present a prelimmary
design and funding proposal to the Pazks Board and Crty Council for consideration
SECTION S. Severabtlatv If any one or more sections, subsections, or
sentences of this Resolution are held to be unconstitutional or invalid, such decision shall not
affect the vandity of the remaimng portion of this Resoluhon and the same shall remam m full
force and effect
SECTION 6�fectave Date Tlus Resolution shall take effect and be m force
immediately upon rts passage
