HomeMy WebLinkAbout3129 RESOLUTION NO � ( a.� A RESOLUTION of the Crty Council of the City of Bremerton, Washington, approving and authonzing a contract with Waste Management of Washmgton, Inc dba Brem-Air Disposal for solid waste collection and recyclmg pick-up services WHEREAS, the City of Bremerton, a Washmgton mumcipal corporahon (the "City"), has negotiated with Waste Management of Washington, Inc dba Brem-Air Disposal, a Washmgton corporation (the "Contractor"), for solid waste collection and recycling pick-up services, and WHEREAS, solid waste collection service is a fundamental mumcipal function with umform, managed collection necessary for the preservation of public health, and WHEREAS, the Contractor represents that it has the expenence, resources, and expertise necessary to perform solid waste collection services, and WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 35 21 120 the City has enacted ordinances codified m the Crty's Municipal Code which created a system for the orderly collechon and disposal of Garbage within the City of Bremerton, and WHEREAS, the Crty Council finds that by entenng mto th�s contract for the collection of Recyclables and Garbage, the citizens of the City will receive a greater vanety of Garbage services at more stable rates, and WHEREAS, the City and Contractor have negotiated a mutually advantageous proposal for providmg solid waste collection services and the City Council has determmed that the City should enter into a contract with Contractor for the collection and disposal of Garbage, recycling and yard debns withm the, NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BREMERTON, WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS SECTION 1 The recitals set forth above are hereby mcorporated as if set forth herein m full SECTION 2 The process used to determme the contract award to Waste Management, Inc dba Brem-Air Disposal is advantageous to the Crty of Bremerton SECTION 3 That the Mayor is hereby authonzed to sign a contract with Waste Management of Washington, Inc dba Brem-Air Disposal, a Washington corporation, for solid waste collection and recyclmg pick-up services referenced in this resolution 1 Waste Management SECTION 4 Severabtictv If any one or more sections, subsections, or sentences of this Resolution are held to be unconstitutional or mvalid, such decision shall not affect the validrty of the remaimng portion of this Resolution and the same shall remam m full force and effect SECTION S. �fectave Date This Resolution shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage PASSED by the Crty Council of the City of Bremerton, Washington this ,�� � day of Q,/iJI��,� , 2010 _ N WOFF , Counci President APPROVED AS TO FORM ATTEST GER A LUBO , CAR L E GEN, Crty C erk R\Legal\Legal\Resoluhons\Pubhc Works\Waste Management Contract doc I I � ! � i I � ` � 2 � Waste Management i � �
