The total increase is $6,087.31, which is 2.71 percent of the Contract amount. This increase was significantly influenced by the changes in the pavement removal and repaving. These changes were necessary because the pavement condition was worse when the removal was implemented in preparation for the repaving. More areas of cracking had developed in the pavement, and it became necessary to replace the pavement in these areas. Please see attached drawing Because of the increase in the quantity of asphalt by more 25 %, I negotiated the original contract price of $347/ton down to $283.81/ton. This reduction in price is about 18.21%. , The revised Contract amount of $230,721.53 shown on the Change Order form is well below the total budget of $655,000.00. This is funded by FHWA, and the City's share for this additional cost is 13.5 percent of $6,08'7.31 which amounts to $821.79.
