SI;fMMARY: In June 2010, Council approved the Police Department's solicitation of a$51,155
Edward Byrne Memorial Assista.nce Grant (JAG) for the purpose of sustaining the Community Resource
Unit and its crime preveution function with part-time staf�ng. The grant was awarded on August 15, 2010.
Without this grant, the Community Resource Specialist position will be eliminated through reduction-in-force
(RIF). The grant will help us sustain our enhanced policing initiative on a part-time basis in years 2010 and
2011. The grant is from the Departmeut of Justice. No matching funds are required of the City. The t�ta1
grant amouut is $51,155.00. The grant duration is through September 2011.

FISCAL IlVIPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): None. The JAG funding is a revemae source for
$51,155.00. It will provide dollars for preserving staffing levels.
