SUMMARY: BMC Chapter 2.50, Section 2.50.032 (a) requires Council confirmation for the appointment of
a Department Director. Council confirmation is requested to hire Vincent O. Akhimie as Director of Public
Works & Utilities. Mr. Akhimie's exemplary career spans 24 years in the public sector as Director of Public
Works and/or Director of Utilities at both the County and municipal level with such jurisdictions as Stamford,
CT, Oak Park, IL, Miami Beach, FL, Polk County, FL, DeSoto County, FL, Oviedo, FL and Riveria Beach,
FL. He holds Bacheor and Masters degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of WA and 50 hours
towards his Ph.D in Public Administration, Planning & Engineering at the U. of Michigan. He also completed a
2-year Certified Public Manager Program at FL State University Center for Public Management.

employment with the City of Bremerton
FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): Position is fully funded per approval of 2010
budget.
