for Geotechnical Services in support of the Department: PW&U

SUMMARY: The City has negotiated a Professional Services Agreement with Shannon & Wilson, a
geotechnical engineering consultant, to provide geotechnical engineering services for design of the
Washington Avenue Sewer Replacement project. This project will replace the Washington Avenue
beach main with an upland sewer system consisting of a combination of a gravity system and a low
pressure sewer system. Shannon & Wilson will provide geotechnical engineering design support for
pre-design, design, and construction.

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): The amount of the Professional Services
Agreement is not to exceed $40,245. This work will be funded by rates. The project is included in
the 2010 budget.

RECOMMENDED MOTION: Move to approve the Professional Services Agreement with
Shannon & Wilson for Geotechnical Services in support of the Washington Avenue Sewer
Replacement Design and authorize the Mayor to finalize and execute the agreement with substantially
the same terms and conditions as presented.
