A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of
Bremerton, Washington assuming that portion of the South Kitsap
Fire & Rescue long term debt attributable to those properties
within the South Kitsap Industrial Area annexed into the City of
Bremerton.
WHEREAS, 225 tax parcels in the South Kitsap Industrial Area (SKIA)
were annexed to the City of Bremerton; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 35.13.270, those properties continue to be
obligated to pay their portion of the existing South Kitsap Fire & Rescue (SKFR) long
term debt through 2019 unless the City of Bremerton assumes this debt; and
WHEREAS, the amount of this total debt attributed to those properties as
of November 1, 2009 is $7,227.65; and
WHEREAS, the annexed SKIA properties are now paying for fire
protection service via the City of Bremerton regular and EMS property tax levies, which
have been increased by an appropriate amount attributable to the annexation;
NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BREMERTON, WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City of Bremerton shall assume the total SKFR indebtedness
attributed to the annexed SKIA properties.
SECTION 2. The City of Bremerton shall make annual payments on the
indebtedness together with interest to the Kitsap County Treasurer until the indebtedness
matures, not to extend beyond calendar year 2019..
SECTION 3. SeverabiliV. If any one or more sections, subsections, or
sentences of this Resolution are held to be unconstitutional or invalid, such decision shall not
affect the validity of the remaining portion of this, Resolution and the same shall remain in full
force and effect.
SECTION 4. ff ective Date. This Resolution shall take effect and be in force
immediately upon its passage.
