SUMMARY: In 2009 the City of Bremerton annexed the area known as the South Kitsap Industrial
Area (SKIA) into the city limits. South Kitsap Fire & Rescue (SKFR) has continued to provide first
response EMS and fire protection services to SKIA after SKIA's annexation into the City, pursuant to
an informal agreement between the City and SKFR. Because SKFR is better able, due to the location
of its fire stations, to continue providing first response EMS and fire protection services to this area,
the Bremerton Fire Department and SKFR wish to enter into an interlocal agreement formalizing
SKFR's responsibilities relating to SKIA.

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): Potentially $57,000 which is in the 2010 budget.

RECOMMENDED MOTION: That the City Council authorize the Mayor to finalize and execute
an Interlocal Agreement with South Kitsap Fire & Rescue for EMS and fire protection services in
SKIA with substantially the same terms and conditions as presented.
