SUMMARY: The City was verbally n6tified on August 19th that it will be offered a $1,750,000
Brownfields Economic Development Initiative (BEDI) grant from the Department of Housing and
Urban Development (RUD) to support construction of the Bremerton Boardwalk. A written award
letter is forthcoming. HUD indicated they will require formal acceptance of the grant by September
14, 2009. This grant for the Boardwalk is conditioned upon the City's submittal of a Section 108 loan
application for $2,800,000 within 60 days, and later acceptance of the loan. The requested action
before City Council is acceptance of a BEDI Grant and authorization to apply for a $2,800,000
Section 108 Loan.

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): This grant and potential loan will provide partial
funding for construction of the Bremerton Boardwalk.
